Who is D-Less Lion?
Allow me to present myself!
My name is D-lessLion. D-less stands for dreadless. A reggae artist without dreads, but with deep roots and positive vibes.
Reggae has been in my blood since I was four years old. I grew up on the Caribbean island of Curaçao, where reggae played daily from cassette recorders on the streets.
On every corner people were dancing, and I as a young boy was immediately carried along by the flow. Some even took the time to explain to me what the lyrics were about. Singing is something I was born with. My first big performance was at eight years old, when I sang three Bob Marley songs for an enthusiastic school audience. That experience gave me a musical boost that never faded.
At a young age I started writing my own lyrics. In high school I also began composing. From the age of thirteen to seventeen, I performed every weekend together with the most famous DJ of the Netherlands Antilles. At seventeen, I moved to the Netherlands – partly for my studies, but mainly to broaden my musical horizons. Here I won various competitions, played in several (reggae) bands and eventually built my own studio. In addition to reggae, I also make rap and Latin music with a recognizable reggae twist. I collaborated with several labels, including the oldest record label in the Netherlands. But my heart has always belonged to roots reggae.
My music is consciously positive. No negativity or hate. I sing about love, life and everything that makes us human. What do people say most often? That my sound is just a little different. That’s exactly the point. I don’t follow the beaten path. I choose my own musical route. And one more thing: I don’t use AI to make music. What you hear comes straight from the heart. Enjoy my creations and feel free to share them with those you love.

I, D-Less Lion, make music that comes straight from my heart! Sometimes you will be confronted with tracks that do not entirely fit into the mainstream. But yes, that's me.

You can hear me a lot in my songs. I write my songs myself. I get inspiration from life. After I have written a song, I take it to my D-Less Lion Musickitchen to further shape it. Sometimes I invite friends to 'cook' with me. Also roots reggae lover with a heart for reggae music.

I regularly collaborate with other artists. I find that inspiring. So I'm open to it.
Diversity during performances.
I like to perform my own songs, but some reggae tracks touch me so much that I might just insert a track from one of my colleagues during a performance.
